Convergent Intelligence: Bridging AI and Measurement Science for Next-Generation Discovery

Scientific progress increasingly depends on our ability to extract meaningful insights from complex, high-dimensional measurements across multiple scales and modalities. Yet we stand at a unique moment where artificial intelligence and data science advances can fundamentally enhance how we observe and understand natural phenomena. Despite tremendous advances in measurement techniques, data analysis methods and sophisticated AI models, many critical real-world challenges remain unsolved - from early disease detection to materials optimization and environmental monitoring.

This event seeks to identify research opportunities where novel combinations of AI/data science and measurement approaches could address pressing societal needs. Through facilitated discussions between domain experts, measurement scientists and data scientists at UIC and ANL, we aim to form interdisciplinary teams to develop innovative solutions to real-world challenges in extracting deeper insights from scientific data.
